FAQ

Quick answers to what we get asked most. Can't find yours? Email admin@thehobbyarmoury.com.au and we'll sort it.

Ordering & payment

What payment methods do you accept?

Cards, Shop Pay, Apple Pay and Google Pay, all through Shopify's secure checkout.

Do I need an account to order?

No. Guest checkout is available. Creating an account just makes things faster next time and lets you see your order history.

What currency are your prices in?

Australian dollars.

Will I get a GST tax invoice?

We're not currently registered for GST, so there's no GST component on your order. Your order confirmation email doubles as your receipt.

Can I change or cancel my order after placing it?

Get in touch as soon as you can. We aim to get orders out within 1 to 2 business days, so the sooner you email us, the better our chances of catching it before it ships.

Shipping & delivery

How fast do you ship orders?

Within 1 to 2 business days, Monday to Friday, from our base in Mooloolah on the Sunshine Coast.

How much does shipping cost?

It's calculated by weight at checkout through Australia Post, so you'll see the exact cost before you pay.

Can I pick up my order instead of paying for shipping?

If you're on the Sunshine Coast, message us at admin@thehobbyarmoury.com.au before you order and we'll often be able to arrange pickup instead. We'll agree a time and location, and give you a code to apply at checkout so shipping comes to $0.

Do you ship internationally?

Yes, to 27 countries beyond Australia, including the UK, US, Canada, New Zealand, Japan and most of the EU. Import duties and customs charges are set by the destination country and aren't included in your shipping cost.

Do you ship to PO boxes or parcel lockers?

Yes, both are fine.

How will I know when my order's shipped?

You'll get an email with tracking as soon as it leaves us.

What happens with pre-order or Coming Soon items?

They ship once stock lands. If your order mixes in-stock and pre-order items, we'll be in touch about whether to split the shipment or hold everything until it can go together.

What if my parcel is lost or arrives damaged?

Contact us with your order number and we'll lodge an investigation with Australia Post. Once it's confirmed lost or damaged in transit, we'll sort a replacement or refund under our Refund Policy.

Will my order arrive in one parcel?

Usually, though larger or mixed orders are sometimes split across more than one.

Returns & refunds

Can I return something if I just change my mind?

Yes, within 30 days of delivery, as long as it's unopened, unused and in its original packaging, with proof of purchase. Return postage is on you, and we'll refund to your original payment method once we've received and checked the item. This doesn't cover opened paints, glues or other consumables, special orders, or anything marked final sale.

What if an item arrives faulty, damaged or wrong?

There's no fixed deadline for this one. Contact us with your order number and photos of the issue and we'll cover return postage, then repair, replace or refund it. Your rights under the Australian Consumer Law apply regardless of the 30-day change-of-mind window above.

How do I actually start a return?

Email admin@thehobbyarmoury.com.au with your order number and reason, wait for confirmation before posting it back, then pack it securely, ideally in the original packaging.

How long do refunds take?

Up to 10 business days from approval to hit your account. After that, timing depends on your bank.

Are returns different for international orders?

Import duties and taxes aren't refundable by us. For international change-of-mind returns, postage back is on you unless the item's faulty.

Products & authenticity

Do miniatures come assembled or painted?

No, not unless a listing says otherwise. They arrive unassembled and unpainted. Paints, glue and tools are sold separately.

Why might my model look slightly different from the photo?

Small variations in colour, material or finish are normal, especially on hand-cast resin or hand-painted pieces. It's not a fault. Some product photos show painted or assembled examples purely to illustrate the model.

Are you affiliated with Games Workshop or Warhammer?

No. We're an independent retailer and aren't affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to Games Workshop or any other trademark holder. What we do stock is paints, tools, terrain, dice and miniatures from other systems, Warlord Games, Conquest and Trench Crusade among them. These miniatures can be used as proxies for Warhammer or other gaming systems.

Are your products suitable for kids?

They're aimed at adult and teen hobbyists. Many contain small parts or sharp edges, so they're not suitable for children under the age printed on the product, or under 14 where no age is given. You need to be 18, or have a parent or guardian's permission, to order.

Why buy from us

Have you actually used what you're selling?

Yes. Everything on the site gets used on the workbench first, brushes, glue, paints, tools, before it's listed. If we wouldn't use it ourselves, we don't stock it.

Why do some items only show 1 or 2 in stock?

We'd rather carry a wide range than pile deep on a handful of bestsellers, so plenty of lines run light on quantity. Restocking is usually quick. If you're chasing something specific, email us and we'll let you know when it's back.

About & community

Who's behind The Hobby Armoury?

Ralph Waskow, based on the Sunshine Coast. More on the About Us page.

Do you have a physical shop I can visit?

Not yet. We're online only for now, though a Sunshine Coast storefront is something we're working toward.

Are you involved in the local wargaming community?

Yes, we're active in the Sunshine Coast tabletop wargaming scene and back local community events where we can.

How do I get in touch?
